Dear Supper Tale community,
Recently our team has been expanding with new Tale-Tellers, and there’s many more joining us in the near-future, which we are both grateful and excited about. If you have interest becoming a part of Supper Tale, as a guest, a Tale-Teller, or through other collaborations, do not hesitate getting in touch with us. We love to hear from you and connect with other foodie people out there.
As our community is growing, it feels important to shed more light on the Supper Tale’s mission, vision, and values.
We’ve previously shared insights into Our Tale on our website and Instagram posts. However, as Tale-Tellers ourselves, we would love to introduce you to the philosophy behind Supper Tale even further.
Supper Tale's core values lay in building an international community, empowering creativity, and supporting well-being, with a strong focus on the power of food to connect people from all over the world, and create enjoyable experiences to everyone.
Okay. So, what does that mean, like really? What is the mission and vision?
Let us elaborate.
The idea of Supper Tale, long before it even had the name, started with its’ founder Eyal Levit. Eyal has an extensive experience as a chef in some highly respected restaurants in Europe, Grön in Helsinki and Maaemo in Oslo, to name a couple. However, the main inspiration for supper clubs comes from his background of weekly dinner gatherings among family and friends. These weekly weekend dinners with people close to him supports Supper Tale’s simple belief: food is best shared in a comfortable and inclusive environment, in the company of friendly faces and flowing conversation. Food has the power to bring people together, spark conversations, and create lasting memories. We believe that when people gather around a table to appreciate delicious food and catch up on what everyone’s been up to, sharing to others what’s on their mind and heart… that’s where the magic happens. This is why we focus on creating events where food and people are the focal point in a relaxed and friendly space.
Veera Soivio, a co-founder of Supper Tale, is not a professional chef by any means, but like many others out there, really loves good food. Who doesn’t? Since meeting Eyal and getting the chance to observe his profession close by, her admiration to the food industry has grown and deepened rapidly. Having the opportunity to see from close by how menus are created; how much time, dedication, planning, creativity, and visualisation goes into each and every dish is so beautiful. Food definitely is a work of art! The whole process of cooking is something which might go slightly unnoticed in a traditional restaurant setting. It has been a real pleasure for Veera to deepen her appreciation towards everything to do with food, and she’s learned a lot along the way. By observing Eyal creating his magic in the kitchen, Veera has come to realise, that in a way, cooking is very simple. However, it is one million if not more simple steps done accordingly, with precision and attention to detail, which creates the magic which is the final product on the plate. When one is in the kitchen, they need to be fully there and be present with the ingredients and whole process from preparation to finishing touches.
This experience of seeing the behind the scenes of a meal preparation, to truly appreciate and respect the person who has created something delicious and beautiful for others to enjoy, is something we hope to share with every guest who takes part in the Supper Tale events. We hope to highlight the creativity of chefs and home cooks, who pour their heart and imagination into the dishes they plan and prepare for our guests to enjoy. We want to shorten the gap between kitchen and table, to turn the spotlight on the person behind the event and the meals prepared for guests to indulge in. Just as importantly we want to create a safe space for people to connect and create lasting memories.
One of Supper Tale’s goals is to strengthen the supper club and food workshops position in the food industry. We hope to make it easily accessible for future guests to join these events, all around the world, and for many more Tale-Tellers joining our mission by opening their kitchens to new audience. With everything going on in the current state of our polarised world, the chance to connect to other humans and share stories, opinions and have an opportunity for open conversation, whilst appreciating thoughtfully created meals in a warm atmosphere, seems more meaningful than ever.
